A Preview of the New Marketplace Supermarket in Rockwell

Friday night Christmas shopping led me to Rockwell in the off-chance that there was a holiday bazaar in the Rockwell tent. While this was not a successful venture, I decided to check out Rustan’s grocery store  instead for some calorie-laden snacks.

Now I haven’t been to Rockwell for a long time and rather than finding Rustan’s, i found this new supermarket that looked even more high-end than usual.

According to Rustan's website, the new supermarket boasts an extensive range of international specialty and gourmet selections set against a pleasureable contemporary backfrop.

Taking freshness to a whole new level, the supermarket houses a wonderful repertoire of products from all over the world. Now personally, i can get lost for hours in a new supermarket. It's a mad obsession. Here's a few things i found.

Smore's Snack mix
A mix of dark chocolate and white chocolate chunks, crunchy honey graham squares and mini-marshmallow all drizzled with chocolate flavored coatings.

Chips made from naturally blue potatoes
( blue potato, hmm wonder what a fresh one taste like)

Oysters flown from France
PHP 129/piece (yikes)

Mexican lime juice cordial, Indian tonic water, and bitter lemon.
PHP 58/bottle (not bad )

What the heck is indian water?

Ginger Ale
PHP58/bottle

Finally! it's so hard to find good Ginger Ale nowadays. The Canada Dry brand just tasted too much like regular sprite. The Essential Waitrose version really tastes like carbonated Salabat. Yum!

Squid ink and sugar beet pasta

Ready to bake croissants
(looks a little squished though, maybe it'll puff up in the oven)

Overall, this shop has a great mix of inexpensive and high-end goodies. I'd go back more often just to buy that ginger ale.

harry potter movie night with hogsmeade butterbeer

"Butterbeer, Cauldron Cakes and Fizzing Whizbees." Looking back, my fondest memories from reading Harry Potter is that I imagined myself eating all these imaginary treats. Apparently I wasn’t the only one because everywhere I looked, Harry Potter recipes were running amok on the web. Even Jelly Belly started making their version of Bertie Bott's every flavour jelly bean but who in their right mind would willingly eat something that tasted like vomit or earwax. (bleah!)

Anyway, I stray. Being the obsessive foodie that I am, I couldn't leave my cravings to imagination alone. My friends and I were planning on a Harry Potter movie night at home and it was for me the best opportunity to make... Butterbeer :)

Ingredients:
1/2 cup of caramel syrup
1 tbsp butter
whipped cream
1 cup cream soda

Accio Butterbeer!

Mix butter and caramel syrup. Microwave until bubbly.

Diabetes and cholesterol ✔

fill a bowl with whipped cream.

stir a little into the whipped cream. Mix until frothy

place caramel butter into mugs

measure 1 cup cream soda and pour into mugs filled with
caramel butter

let it sit and rest for a sec...

top with foamy cream

butterbeer!!

Wanting it to be the ultimate Harry Potter experience,
I made sure my friends and I had some more HP sweets .

Ton Tongue Toffee, Rock Cakes, Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Jellybeans,
 Licorice Wands, and Jelly Slugs

My fellow witches and warlocks :)

Snacks done. Time for the show :)
